Holy Liturgy – St. Neophytus of Crete

On this day, we commemorate Saint Neophytus the Cretan, Hierarch and Martyr, Metropolitan of Wallachia; Saint Tikhon, Bishop of Amatunda; Saint Moses of Optina; and Saint Mark the Holy Martyr, Bishop of Apollonia.

Saint Neophytus of Crete is honored by the Church as a model of asceticism, humility, and steadfastness in the faith. By choosing the monastic life and devoting himself to prayer, fasting, and the service of God, he acquired rich spiritual gifts and became a guide for many believers. Through his patience in trials and his love for Christ, Saint Neophytus shows us that true fulfillment is found in closeness to God and in the authentic living out of the Gospel. His commemoration urges us to cultivate the spiritual life, to persevere in prayer, and to confidently seek the work of divine grace in our lives.
