Utrenia – Sunday of the Holy Athonites

On this day, we commemorate Saint Julian the Martyr of Tarsus, Saint Aphrodisius the Martyr, and the Third Sunday after Pentecost (of the Holy Athonites).

The Sunday of the Holy Athonites is a feast dedicated to all the saints who lived and labored on the Holy Mountain of Athos, a place blessed by God and protected by the Mother of God. Through their unceasing prayer, humility, obedience, and love for Christ, these fathers and ascetics have become true beacons of Orthodoxy and models of the spiritual life for the entire Christian world. Their example shows us the power of faith and asceticism in attaining holiness, calling us to cultivate prayer, repentance, and closeness to God. The veneration of the Holy Athonites urges us to seek inner peace and to follow, each according to their ability, the path of virtue and communion with God.
