Holy Liturgy – St. Pantelimon, Martyr and Healer

On this day, we commemorate the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon, Saint Clement, Archbishop of Ohrid, the Holy Pious Antusa, and the Holy Pious Manuel.

Saint Panteleimon the Great Martyr and Healer, commemorated by the Church on July 27, is one of the most beloved saints of Christendom, the patron of the sick, of doctors, and of all who place their hope in God’s mercy. Endowed with the gift of healing and trained in the art of medicine, he understood that true healing springs from the love of Christ and dedicated his life to alleviating people’s physical and spiritual sufferings. By healing the sick without charge and helping the needy, Saint Panteleimon united medical science with faith and charity, becoming a model of selfless service to one’s neighbor.

During the persecutions against Christians, Saint Panteleimon steadfastly confessed his faith in Christ, refusing to renounce the Gospel, even at the cost of his life. For his steadfastness and courage, he endured numerous torments, ultimately receiving the crown of martyrdom and remaining an example of the triumph of faith over suffering and death.

The commemoration of Saint Panteleimon, the Great Martyr and Healer, urges us to cultivate love for our neighbor, compassion, and a spirit of self-sacrifice, assuring us that God works through faith and prayer for the healing of both soul and body. As we pray to this great saint, we ask for his intercession before the heavenly Throne for health, strength in trials, and blessings in our lives and those of our loved ones.
