Holy Liturgy – 9th Sunday after Pentecost
On this day, we celebrate the Transfer of the Relics of Saint Stephen the First Martyr and Archdeacon, the Righteous Gamaliel, the Faithful Emperor Justinian the Great, and the 9th Sunday after Pentecost (Walking on the Sea – Calming the Storm).
The 9th Sunday after Pentecost presents us with the Gospel account of the walking on the sea and the calming of the storm, in which our Savior Jesus Christ reveals Himself as the Lord of creation and the unwavering support of those who place their trust in Him. Amid the waves and the strong wind, the Apostles learn that Christ’s presence dispels fear and brings peace to the soul, and Saint Peter the Apostle’s attempt to walk on water shows us that the power of faith can overcome any fear, as long as our gaze remains fixed on God.
This Sunday’s Gospel reminds us that, in the face of life’s hardships and trials, we are called not to let ourselves be overwhelmed by doubt, but to strengthen ourselves in faith and call upon Christ for help, just as the Apostle Peter cried out: “Lord, save me!” God never abandons those who seek Him with sincerity and hope, but extends His saving hand to them and strengthens them in every trial.
This Sunday urges us to place our complete trust in God’s providence, to remain steadfast in prayer, and to keep alive the faith that, no matter how fierce life’s storms may be, Christ is the One who brings peace, hope, and salvation to all who follow Him.
We warmly welcome you to the St. Tecla Foundation Chapel, where you’ll find a warm and welcoming atmosphere!
