Agape and catechesis – The 13th Sunday after Pentecost

On this day, the following are commemorated: Saint John of Râșca and Secu, Bishop of Roman; Saint Varlaam, Metropolitan of Moldavia; Saint Alexander, Patriarch of Constantinople; Saint Alexander of Svir; Saint Paul the New, Patriarch of Constantinople, Saint John, Patriarch of Constantinople, Saint Alexander Nevsky, the Veneration of the Icon of the Mother of God of Craiova, and the 13th Sunday after Pentecost (The Parable of the Wicked Laborers).

The 13th Sunday after Pentecost presents us with the Gospel of the Parable of the Wicked Laborers in the Vineyard, through which our Savior Jesus Christ reveals to us God’s love and long-suffering, as well as the responsibility that every person has toward the gifts they have received. The owner of the vineyard, who sends his servants and, ultimately, his own son, symbolizes God’s unceasing care for humanity and His desire that all may bear good fruit and live in obedience to His will.

Through this parable, the Lord warns those who, out of pride, indifference, or hardness of heart, reject God’s call and refuse to bear the fruits of faith. At the same time, the Gospel reminds us that each of us is a worker in the Lord’s vineyard and is called to respond responsibly to the love and trust that God offers us.

This Sunday calls on us to receive God’s word with an open heart, to cultivate faith, humility, and love for our neighbor, and to bear fruit worthy of the Gospel through our lives and deeds. Only by remaining united with Christ and faithfully working in His vineyard will we be able to attain the joy of communion with God and the inheritance of His eternal Kingdom.

We warmly welcome you to the Chapel of the Saint Thecla Foundation, in a warm and welcoming setting!
