Holy Liturgy – Holy Confessors Visarion and Sofronie; Holy Martyr Oprea; Holy Confessor Priests John of Galeș and Moses Măcinic of Sibiel; Holy Confessor Hilarion the Great

On this day, we commemorate: Saint Visarion the Confessor, Saint Sophronius the Confessor, Saint Oprea the Martyr, Saint John the Confessor, Priest of Galeș, Saint Moses Măcinic the Confessor, Priest of Sibiel, Saint Hilarion the Great, and Saint Philotheus of Dionysius.

The Holy Confessors Visarion and Sofronie, the Holy Martyr Oprea, and the Holy Priest-Confessors Ioan of Galeș and Moise Măcinic of Sibiel are commemorated together as defenders of the Orthodox faith of the Romanians in Transylvania. During a period of intense pressure on Orthodox communities, these confessors defended the faith and the freedom to remain within the Orthodox Church.

Saint Sofronie traveled through the villages of Transylvania, urging the faithful to preserve the true faith, while the other martyrs endured persecution, imprisonment, and, in the case of Saint Oprea, death for their faith. Their commemoration bears witness to the courage of people who refused to renounce their faith, no matter the cost. For us, their example remains a call to steadfastness, to responsibility toward our faith, and to the preservation of the values handed down to us by our forebears.

We warmly welcome you to the Chapel of the Saint Tecla Foundation, in a warm and welcoming setting!
