Holy Liturgy – The Exaltation of the Holy Cross

On this day, the following are celebrated: the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, and Saint Macarius the New Martyr, disciple of Patriarch Niphon.

The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, celebrated on September 14, is one of the most important feasts dedicated to the Holy Cross, the sign through which Christ conquered sin and death. On this day, the Church commemorates both the discovery of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem and its solemn elevation before the people by Patriarch Macarius, following the consecration of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. The Cross of the Lord thus becomes for Christians the altar of Christ’s saving sacrifice and the sign of His perfect love for humanity.

The veneration of the Holy Cross reminds us that the path to the Resurrection passes through sacrifice, patience, and love. Christ calls us to take up our own crosses with faith, not to flee from trials, and not to lose hope when life becomes difficult. By venerating the Holy Cross, we bear witness that God’s power is revealed precisely in sacrificial love and that, beyond all suffering, lies the hope of eternal life.

We warmly welcome you to the Chapel of the Saint Thecla Foundation, in a warm and welcoming setting!
