Utrenia – The 10th Sunday after Pentecost
On this day we commemorate: Saint Matthias the Apostle, Saint Antoninus the Martyr, Saint Matthias the Apostle, Saint Antoninus the Martyr, the Ten Holy Martyrs and Confessors for the Icon of Christ, and the 10th Sunday after Pentecost (The Healing of the Lunatic)
The 10th Sunday after Pentecost presents us with the Gospel account of the healing of the child tormented by a mute and deaf spirit, revealing the boundless power of our Savior Jesus Christ and the importance of steadfast faith. In the face of the father’s suffering and the disciples’ inability to cast out the unclean spirit, Christ reveals that true victory over evil is attained through living faith, prayer, and fasting, saying, “This kind of demon does not come out except by prayer and fasting.”
This Sunday’s Gospel teaches us that, in moments of trial and doubt, we are called to place all our hope in God and to ask for His help with humility and trust. The father’s sincere prayer—“I believe, Lord! Help my unbelief!”—remains to this day one of the most profound confessions of a soul seeking God’s support and mercy.
This Sunday urges us to strengthen our faith through prayer, fasting, and participation in the life of the Church, trusting that God is not indifferent to our sufferings, but works with love and mercy in the lives of those who seek Him with a pure heart and unwavering hope.
We warmly welcome you to the Chapel of the Saint Thecla Foundation, in a warm and welcoming setting!
