Vespers – The Feast of the Nativity of the Mother of God

On this day we commemorate: Saint Simeon the Pious of Pângărați, Saint Amphilochius the Pious of Pângărați, the Forefeast of the Nativity of the Mother of God, Saint Daniel Katunakiot, Saint Macarius of Optina, Saint Sozont the Martyr, and Saint Cassian the Hymnographer.

The Forefeast of the Nativity of the Mother of God is a time of spiritual preparation for the celebration of one of the great feasts dedicated to the Most Holy Mother of God. The Church urges us to look to the holy and righteous Joachim and Anna, the parents of the Mother of God, whose lives of prayer, patience, and trust in God were crowned by the birth of the Virgin Mary. Her coming into the world would pave the way for the fulfillment of God’s plan of salvation, through which the Son of God would become incarnate for us and for our salvation. These days of preparation call us to purify our souls, to deepen our prayer, and to joyfully receive the gift that God has offered to the world through the one who would become the Mother of the Savior.

We warmly welcome you to the Chapel of the Saint Thecla Foundation, in a warm and welcoming setting!
